Lesson 5 of 90
I can count on one hand the number of times anyone has given me a prophetic word. And because it is so rare, I remember, almost verbatim what the prophet or those working in the prophetic gifting have shared with me. The second word I received in my life was my position in the body of Christ as an Oracle. At the time I wondered what that meant, later in life I wondered when I would start.
Then came social media and I found it to be the perfect platform to speak to my children the words of wisdom that I think are important, the words I want to reiterate, and the words that I know they’ll appreciate later in life if not today—and social media was the perfect indirect approach.
What I didn’t realize is how many people would find short prayers and reminders of life beneficial. If my children never responded or reposted what they read for them, countless others did! You see, initially, I thought social media was in and of itself a gigantic waste of valuable time. What I didn’t realize was, herein was the forum God would use to speak into lives as an oracle.
I found out much later that my natural children were glancing at posts while others were benefiting. With this in mind, I wanted to capture what would expire over time into something my children, and you, could reference forever.
Some of the sayings you may have heard before and others you may have known but never really considered. Regardless, my prayer is that you enjoy each page, as I’m direct, facetious and principled. Just know I speak from the heart of a mother with good intentions towards you.
Let the read bless your life and know little tweaks here and there, or a complete overhaul in personality can make the difference in having a fulfilled existence or a life denied of the many benefits available to you as a believer.
Now, the Words of an Oracle...
Dear Woman,
Like the Apostles wrote letters to the early church, these are the posts I made on social media and elaborated as a letter just for you. They are designed to inspire and provoke you to be, do and have everything God intended for your life. Some days are a reminder, others are an admonishment, but each day is designed to encourage you.
Sometimes we just need to be encouraged. We can know the Truth and know what’s right, but a reminder is always refreshing. This devotional is designed to be just that—refreshing.
“I pray your personal life matches in personality with your public display, in Jesus’ name.” Amen
We’ve all experienced, or have been the parent who melodiously answered a ringing phone in the middle of giving stern warning. The change of temperament and sound could make you think a new person entered the room as the once contorted face turned quite pleasant.
It’s comical in hindsight, but it actually proves that we all know how to act no matter what’s going on in life, but for whatever our reasons, we excuse ourselves from what we know and allow bad attitudes and behaviors to steer our interactions with those we love most. And that should not be.
Just as you manage to pull it together for those you don’t know, you can keep it together for those you do know. It’s choosing to be disciplined and not duplicitous. For the sake of integrity, uphold the same level of kindness with those closest to you as you would towards those with whom you barely know!
Sure you can be yourself, without pretention with your family; you’re comfortable, and yes, those closest to you are forgiving, even tolerant. However, that’s not a good enough reason to disrespect, disregard or show contempt and impatience with the very people who love you much. No one deserves to be mistreated.
If you can find patience for colleagues, kind words for acquaintances and extra time for complete strangers, it means you have the ability to give the best of yourself to those who love you and need the best part of you too.
Life is filled with challenge, but this one is worth it. Restrain yourself and be the person God called you to be everyday and with all people, especially with those you claim to love.
LESSON 5
“I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.” (Matthew 3:11) Holy Spirit. He is your helper.
I want to encourage you to allow the work of Holy Spirit in your Christian walk.
John baptized with water for repentance, but Jesus baptizes with the Holy Spirit and fire (Matthew 3: 11-12, John 1:33). This baptism with the Holy Spirit was introduced on the day of Pentecost (Acts 2:1-4) when the people assembled and were all “filled with Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.” The good news is this same baptism is available to you today! Don’t ignore the third person of the Trinity any longer! Let Him help you in your weaknesses; let Him intercede for you in areas that you don’t know how to pray for (Romans 8:26); give Him an opportunity to reveal those things that your eyes have not seen, your ears have not heard, nor has it entered into your heart (1 Corinthians 2:10); allow Him to empower you to overcome the temptations of the flesh (Romans 8:13); and, let Him lead you in boldness with this Gospel! (Acts 1:8)
You are not without power in life, but if you don’t use what you have, you’ll be like a person sitting in a dark room unwilling to flip the switch for the power of light! Flip the switch to turn the power on in your life. Ask God to fill you with Holy Spirit and then begin to speak in other tongues!
The only qualification to speak/be baptized is to believe. Luke 11:10-13 says, “For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. If a son asks for bread from any father among you, will he give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent instead of a fish? Or if he asks for an egg, will he offer him a scorpion? If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!”
Speaking in tongues may seem futile, it may even seem strange, but if you will engage for a certain amount of time each day, you’ll not only see a difference in your life, but you’ll appreciate how much of a difference His presence makes.
Receive Holy Spirit by faith today and begin speaking in other tongues!
I noticed I am starting to speak in the spirit more, specially when I am unable to remember the scripture.
I hear myself and I sound angry.
